About this deal

I have both Fred Reinfeld's 1,001 Winning Sacrifices and Combinations and 1,001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate books.

The book clearly has its faults, particularly the current reproduction, but I did not find any of these faults to be important.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.

Would be interested to hear how The Ultimate Chess Puzzle Book, and its sibling, The Giant Chess Puzzle Book (both with 1000 puzzles) compare to the Reifeld books if anyone knows.

I see nothing conclusive so I finally turn to the back and lo and behold he gives Bxf7 as the winning move with the line Rxf7, not even bothering with Nxf7.

if anyone has ever run 1001 through an engine; or can address whether you they make more sense when you are a tactics superhero- I'm interested. Most difficult are the examples that run seven moves and more; some of these may even stump an ordinary master. Again with the e-book idea (though it's also in print) you might check out "1001 Deadly Checkmates" by John Nunn.I've been solving the puzzles from it daily for the past few weeks, it is really helpful to improve your tactical vision. Working through the puzzles in this book will add 100 points to your Elo rating if you are under 2000. Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations is the companion volume to Reinfeld's 1001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate. And I finally suggest that you do not need the solution to a problem directly underneath the puzzle: I have not seen any puzzle book except for those written for complete beginners with such a format.

minutes a day makes a good daily regimen and is virtually guaranteed to improve your play and your rating.

It is your responsibility to make sure that your operating equipment is compatible with the relevant software or video DVD before purchasing and that software purchased is functionally adequate for your needs. I just wanted to ask for anyone who has both of these books also, does it seem like the tactics book is signifigantly harder than the checkmate book? The only quibble I have with Master Reinfeld is that he did not identify the source players and game for each puzzle. I thought it woudl help immensely but I stlil make the painful small flat-out blunders here and there, in winning positions.
