I'm not able to get anything done and I know tonnes of people who are able to get their stuff done - How do you do it? As much as I like talking about creative resistance, self doubt, courage, creative processes, sometimes we need to take a big gulp of courage and just take action. e. the promises we make ourselves and the promises we make others) and whether we tend to meet expectations. One focused hour a day of uninterrupted creation time will do far more for you than 6 hours a day of unfocused and perpetually interrupted creation time.

If we started getting shit done from a place of feeling better rested, having more energy and with a whole lot more enthusiasm and inspiration, it’s going to be a whole lot easier. I think accountability is the key to your major success this year, not just in one task or two, but in everything you do. Since I started working on my startup, popforms, I even put up an auto-responder so people don’t expect a prompt response.

So much of the time, we approach getting shit done as working with blinkers on, not stopping to eat, drink or do much of anything else. Once added, I schedule my tasks for the next day, like this: Scheduling tasks for the next day in Things 3. Take one, act on it and build up your days and weeks with the habits and routines that lead to success. Even when I had to do the Amex gamble and bust my ass to make sure I could cover it when the bill dropped a month later. I use Things for my task list (although I probably would use a free one now, but when there weren’t a lot of good options – I would just make sure it syncs to mobile and your computer).We usually come to getting shit done from a place of scarcity, or a place of procrastination or a place of sometimes even desperation.

While yes, they are it’s worth thinking about the fact that it takes quite a bit of mental energy to keep pushing them down. A back slip pocket offers plenty of convenience for carrying other loose papers, and a choice of Kraft, Khaki or Black makes it easy to suit your style. This is a huge one, and one I have borrowed from the fantastic work of Scott Dinsmore and Live Your Legend. It can be hard to find the focus, know where to start, have the discipline to keep going, fight through the creative resistance and and have the courage to start when you have gremlins of self doubt sitting in your shoulder. A way of getting rid of the overwhelm is to really break things down into small tasks you can do and use them as a checklist.That’s why I’ve created an entire FRAMEwork to give you ultimate accountability with the absolute minimum of time, commitment and effort required. Of course, work can be hugely fun, especially if we get into a flow state where we just get lost in it, but sometimes it doesn’t always feel that way. There’s something about knowing that someone else is working really hard too that keeps you accountable, makes it easier, and makes you less likely to procrastinate or cheat! Then the excitement starts to fade and overwhelm takes its place, and if you have been in the same situation, you know it’s not fun. I'm not saying "just stop caring about what people think", I'm saying try to focus on other things, as you get out of your comfort zone more step by step this will become a lot easier and personally this has made me a LOT more productive.
